Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
DiscoFed is a music discovery app built around Mastodon. We respect your privacy and try to collect only the information needed to make the app work and improve it.
What we collect
When you sign in with Mastodon, we store some basic account information, including your username, Mastodon server, and an authorization token that lets DiscoFed communicate with your server. We never see or store your Mastodon password, and your authorization token is stored encrypted.
We also save information related to your use of DiscoFed, such as your music sources, saved tracks, preferences, and interactions with music and posts.
We collect basic usage information and technical logs to understand how people use DiscoFed, fix bugs, and improve the experience. If you send us feedback or report a problem, we keep that information too.
How we use your information
We use this information to run DiscoFed, remember your preferences, connect with Mastodon, troubleshoot problems, and make the app better. We don't sell your personal information, run ads, or use your activity for targeted advertising.
Other services
DiscoFed relies on third-party services for hosting, data storage, and application monitoring.
Music players and links from services like Bandcamp, Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and YouTube are provided by those services. When you interact with their content, their own privacy policies apply.
DiscoFed also communicates with your Mastodon server to retrieve posts and perform actions you request, such as boosting, favoriting, or replying.
Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies of our own.
Your data
You can delete your DiscoFed account at any time through your account settings. This removes your account and associated data from DiscoFed's active database. Some information may remain temporarily in backups or technical logs.
Deleting your DiscoFed account doesn't affect your Mastodon account or remove posts and interactions already published to Mastodon.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee perfect security.
A few other things
DiscoFed isn't intended for children under 13.
DiscoFed is operated from the United States, and information may be processed by service providers in other countries.
We may update this policy as DiscoFed evolves. Any changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
